Returnal is a roguelike third-person shooter game that's set in a futuristic science-fiction setting. As you're equipped with high-tech weapons, your mission is to shoot your way through the story. You could play the game vanilla, of course—or you could get some mods to spice it up a bit. Below are some of the best mods we've tested for Returnal.
Top mods for Returnal
No Curses from Keys
If you're picking up a malignant key, you're probably going to get cursed after picking it up. This mod makes it so that once you pick up a malignant key, you don't end up getting cursed. It also removes the cleanse button.
No Fog
The fog that surrounds your field of vision adds a nice post-FX touch to the game but can also be annoying to some. If you're the latter, like us, you can use this mod to get rid of the fog. As a result, the game becomes much darker and more immersive.
Disable TAA and Chromatic Aberration
Disable TAA and Chromatic Aberration gives you the ability to customize your settings yourself to make the game look sharper. If you're not a fan of temporal antialiasing for whatever reason, for example, whether it be the effect it has on lighting in the game or, simply, the effect that chromatic aberration has on your game, you can just turn it off using this mod.

EZ Auto Backup
Have you ever been in a scenario when you're deep into the game, and something happens, then all of a sudden, you're unable to log back in since your save file is corrupted? Or do you just want to share your save game with someone quickly? This utility lets you back up your save file to a different location, which you can automate.
Performance Boost
In case you're having trouble running Returnal on your PC, this performance mod disables all the non-essential settings in order to give you a higher FPS. It will disable things like shadows, fog, and post-processing.
Halved Prices
Are you a fan of the game but not the grind? Do you still want to gather a bit of money, but not all of it? Well, with this mod, everything purchasable in Returnal is half the price it was before. This saves you the time and hassle of farming in order to buy better equipment.
No Curses from Chests
Coming from the same developer as No Curses from Keys, this mod gets rid of the annoying curses that you get when you attempt to open up a chest. It also removes the cleanse button, so you don't have to worry about any curses.

Free Shops
Suppose you are completely done with the grind and just want to buy the best possible loot for your journey to survive. The Free Shops mod makes everything purchasable in the game completely, well, free, saving you the annoyance of having to save up for anything.
Jump while Dashing
There are plenty of games where you can perform a whole chain of commands without any issues to make it a bit more fast-paced than it already is. Jumping while dashing is a thing that was lacking in Returnal. However, with the Jump while Dashing mod, you can now achieve the feat.
Shoot while Dashing
Shooting while dashing is one of the most fun combat mechanics in any third-person shooter game. Returnal, sadly, prevents this by performing a dashing animation, after which you can only shoot. This mod changes that and lets you shoot at the same time as you dash.
How to install mods in Returnal
In order to install any of these mods, simply head into your Returnal directory and paste them into the .Paks folder. This is located under Content.
