The Moisty Merman skin is apart of the Season 4 theme in Fortnite. The theme was a bit all over the place, part of it was based on superheroes as well as riffing off of movies. Some of the characters are part of actual movie production, while other skins seem to be actually from another planet (The Visitor). Moisty Merman is part of the movie production theme, if you look closely at the skin you can see that there's one of the default skins on the inside of it!
