Blacktail weaves a tale of magic, fantasy, and tragedy, all encompassed in a surreal world. The game chugs along linearly, and players are prompted to head to certain locations to further their progress. However, even after defeating every boss fight and completing all quests, the forests may still hold mysteries for you to find. This begs the question—is there any incentive for players to replay the game? Fortunately, there is.
Is there a New Game Plus mode or replay value in Blacktail?
Blacktail does feature a New Game + mode where some of your progress from previous playthroughs is carried over into the new game. Most of this carried-over progress pertains to the items you found in your Collection. These items include Dolls, Toads, Amber Spiders, Found & Lost, and Gnolledge. These items can be obtained by unlocking Chests, Chest Beasts, Warden Treasures, completing quests, or simply through world exploration. You can view your Collection progress in the Almanac or your Hut.

The crucial thing to note here is that any skills you may have unlocked by brewing resources in the cauldron will be reset, along with map exploration progress. Therefore, the real incentive for replaying lies within the promise of finding new Lost Pages to unlock skills you may not have unlocked on your first playthrough. However, if unlocking skills from scratch is too daunting for you, you can simply load up the Winter Solstice save file, which is the point of no return in-game. From there, feel free to explore the rest of the map and collect as many skills as possible before heading into the final quest and completing the game.
