One of the best parts of any Pokémon game is choosing which starter Pokémon will be your partner through the rest of your journey. This is no different in the latest installment to the franchise, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Just before you begin your adventure through the region of Paldea, you have your choice between grass-type Sprigatito, fire-type Fuecoco, and water-type Quaxly. You can only choose one to be your partner, but it is possible to have all three starter Pokémon in your game. How exactly can you accomplish that? By trading with your friends via Link Trade in the game's main menu!
How to get Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly as non-starter Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet
Realistically, there are two different ways you can acquire Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly as non-starter Pokémon. Both involve having a friend with another copy of the game, but the effort is different.
- Breeding
- If you have a friend who already has a starter Pokémon that you need, they can breed it with a Ditto and give you the egg that emerges via Link Trading. Our breeding guide provides you with all the details on exactly how you can accomplish that.
- Restart and repeat
- This does require a bit of patience, but you simply start the game over and choose which starter Pokémon you would like. Then, you can trade it with a friend via Link Trading. Once you do that, you can restart the game and repeat the process until you have traded all three starter Pokémon. Your friend can then trade back the Pokémon for you to add to your Pokédex.
