As you explore the world of Aida in Tower of Fantasy, you will come across triangle chests. When you interact with these chests, you will get an option of Perfect Decipher or Forced Decipher. Here's which one should you choose and what this means in Tower of Fantasy.
Perfect Decipher and Forced Decipher in Tower of Fantasy, explained
At certain chests, you have the option to Perfect Decipher or Forced Decipher. These are called T1 Password and T2 Password Chests. When opening one of these, a dialogue box will appear asking you either to Perfect Decipher or Forced Decipher. Do not panic—it's pretty easy to explain.
Always go for Perfect Decipher if you have the Type Chip to open it. If not, go for Forced Decipher. It'll open regardless of the self-destruct warning that appears.
Perfect Decipher in Tower of Fantasy
Perfect Dicipher in ToF is when you use a Type Chip to open a chest. By doing so, you will get increased rewards from the chest. The symbol and number to the left of Perfect Decipher refer to how many of the Type Chips you have in your possession. Using Perfect Decipher guarantees extra rewards, but you will lose the Type Chip you have. If you do not have Type Chips, you cannot use these chests using this method.

Forced Decipher in Tower of Fantasy
Forced Decipher is just another way of saying "open it without getting additional rewards." Every chest will open, and you do not need a Type Chip to open it. All it means is that you will not get the increased rewards you would get from using a Perfect Decipher.
Will chests explode in Tower of Fantasy?
Forced Decipher is pretty much meant to cause you to panic. When you click on it, a self-destruct warning flashes—this is purely for aesthetics, and it will never actually explode. Every single chest we have opened with Forced Decipher has opened without exploding.
What are Type Chips in Tower of Fantasy?
Type Chips in Tower of Fantasy come in four different kinds:
- Type I Chip
- Type II Chip
- Type III Chip
- Type III Key
These Type Chips open T1/T2 passworded chests to get extra rewards when you open them by using Perfect Decipher. By opening via Perfect Decipher, you will use up one of these Chips, meaning that until you find more, you will not be able to open these chests via this method. You will have to use Forced Decipher.
Type 1 Chips can only be used with T1 chests, and Type II Chips can only open T2 chests. We have not found a T3 chest yet, but since the keys for it exists, it's safe to assume they will appear eventually.
You can get Type Chips from:
- Opening Rusted Iron Chests
- Opening T1/T2 chests.
- Completing Bounty Missions
- Completing Weekly Mission Rewards
