Pokémon GO Fest 2022 has arrived. This celebration is shaping up to be one of the biggest of the year for Pokémon GO players. The event will span two jampacked days full of features including, but not limited to, new shiny Pokémon, new Raid bosses, new Special Research, and new legendary Pokémon.
Most of Pokémon GO Fest 2022 mimics the event from 2021, but the Special Research works a little differently this year. On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Ticket-holders will be given a choice in which Special Research branch they would like to continue down. There are three options, Catching, Battling, and Exploring. It is important to note that this Special Research is exclusive to Ticket-holders and players without the Ticket won't be able to participate.
What changes with each Special Research path at Pokémon GO Fest 2022?
The only difference between the three branches is the quest requirement that players will be tasked with. Players will receive the same rewards and encounters throughout the Special Research, but the tasks will tie in with the branch chosen. All of these Special Research tasks will result in players encountering the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin in its Land Forme.
The Catch branch gives players more tasks revolving around catching Pokémon like catching a certain number of Pokémon or using a certain number of berries to catch Pokémon. The Explore branch tasks players with exploring their surroundings, completing quests like spinning a certain number of PokéStops or walking a certain distance. The Battle branch asks players to complete tasks like defeating a certain number of Team GO Rocket Grunts or winning a certain number of Raids.
