Reports suggest Family Plan may come to Microsoft Game Pass subscription

Will it finally happen?

Game Pass subscribers have been clamoring for an extended subscription that would include more than one person. A recent report from Windows Central suggests that Microsoft may finally be listening to fans' demands and are moving ahead with an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan.

Based on the report, the Family Plan would allow a full household to share access to the same Xbox Game Pass account. It would work similarly to Nintendo's Family Plan for the Nintendo Switch Online service. Windows Central claims that Microsoft had been wanting to create a Family Plan for a while now but couldn't due to licensing issues and royalties.

Windows Central has heard that Microsoft wants to launch the Family Plan in late 2022, and it will be a higher tier of the regular Xbox Game Pass. Presumably, it will cost more than a subscription to a normal Game Pass, but the Family Plan reportable will allow five players to gain access to Game Pass account. The Family Plan tier will still be cheaper than paying for five different Xbox Game Pass accounts. Windows Central does not know if players will need to buy a Family Plan for both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass, or if it will be exclusive to Xbox.
