In Coromon, you play as a new Researcher assigned to study Titans and collect their essence. These are powerful Coromon that cannot be caught but must be defeated in battle. Once you do, you can collect the essence. This may leave you wondering how to beat the first Titan, Voltgar, in Coromon.
Voltgar is the first Titan and a challenging fight. When you face Voltgar, it is level 25 and has over 400 hit points. Many of its attacks can knock out your Coromon in one or two hits. It also has five moves instead of four and a large stamina pool.
How to defeat Voltgar in Coromon
Voltgar is an Electric-type Coromon and weak to Sand and Cut attacks, so you should prioritize having Coromon in your party with these attack types. On the other hand, electric does half damage to Sand and Electric-type Coromon, so these are great choices for facing Voltgar.
Voltgar has two phases, the second triggering once you reduce it to half health. This will remove any status condition and activate Voltgar's passive trait, Pure Essence. This causes all of your moves to use an additional two stamina points.
You will also want to bring a lot of healing items and Ground Cakes to cure shock. Voltgar can still knock out your Coromon that resists its attacks easily. It also has a move that will inflict shock on many of your Coromon, even those not currently in battle.
Tips for Voltgar in Coromon
We recommend getting your Coromon to level 20 or higher to have some survivability against Voltgar. Good Coromon to have in your party against Voltgar include Digmow, Dunpod, Armadil, Lampyre, and your starter if you didn't choose Nibblegar. Each of these Coromon has access to Sand or Cut-type attacks, as well as resistances or status-inflicting moves.
We defeated Voltgar by starting the battle with Embaval and inflicting burn. This slowly whittles Voltgar's HP every turn. We followed this up with Armadil and used the skill Deep Cut. This does massive damage and inflicts a wound on Voltgar, causing more damage each turn.
Aside from these two strategies, we rotated between Armadil, Digmow, and Lampyre to do as much damage as possible. Once Voltgar hit phase two, we brought Embaval back in to inflict burn on it again. Keep in mind that we did have to use many healing items and switch to other Coromon to keep the heavy hitters' up.
