It may not be obvious at first, but choices do matter in Triangle Strategy. It affects three things: the ending that you will get, the people who will go with you, and battles that lie ahead. Chapter Seven is a good example. Should you surrender Roland to Gustadolph?
The answer is not as simple as a yes or no. Your decision will have no bearing on the ending, but it will affect the things you have to do to get there. If you give up Roland, you will lose him temporarily.
You can fight to keep him, of course. However, if you want to remain on the right path, you will have to drive Avlova out of the desmene without casualties. If you remember, one of the hints you’re given in this chapter is that the town around Castle Wolffort hides a secret. Apparently, you can pour oil into the canals and set certain portions of the village on fire. If you don't give up Roland, you need to battle Avlora and her three-wave army without triggering the traps. It will be difficult, but you have to take responsibility for your actions.
