Godric the Grafted is the first main boss you will come across in Elden Ring. He has a tricky attack pattern to master and a deadly second phase. Here are all the tips and tricks you'll need to send Godric to his death.
General Tips
- Summon Nepheli Loux the warrior (she can be found inside a room before reaching the Secluded Cell Site of Grace).
- Ranged attacks are highly effective.
- Godric's basic attacks are slow and leave an opportunity for counterattacks.
- Fire resistance is important.
Godric the Grafted Phase 1
Godric will slowly attack with his weapon during the first phase. These attacks are three-to-four-hit combos, but a patient roll can avoid the damage, leaving time to counterattack. There are two main attacks you need to watch out for. Godric creates a whirlwind that will do devastating damage. Roll away and time your dodges to use the invincibility frames. More commonly, Godric will slam his axe into the ground for a shockwave. Create distance between you and him to avoid this.

Godric the Grafted Phase 2
At half health, Godric will begin screaming and enter his second phase. During this phase, he will have the same basic attack combo. However, he will typically use the dragon head (now attached to his arm) to breathe fire at you. The most common attack is a front sweeping fire breath, which can be rolled through using your invisibility frames. Godric can also throw fireballs in the air, which will land with small explosions. Ranged attacks are highly valuable during this phase, as most of the dragon's effects can be avoided by keeping your distance.
