Apex Legends is a cross-platform, cross-party game. Some players play on PC, while others play on various consoles. Apex Legends is available for PlayStation 4, and this version is playable on PlayStation 5, but is Apex Legends actually on the PS5? The file for a PS5 version of Apex Legends is there (an 80 GB download for an updated version of the game). However, it is not currently available for download.
The developers of Apex Legends have stated in the past that they were wanting to and working on bringing Apex Legends to the newest generation. With the game file’s addition to the PS5, players may see the official Apex Legends PS5 launch as soon as Season 12 in February. That said, it is not currently clear if this will be the exact release date, as nothing official has been stated.

Until then, remember that it is always possible to play the PS4 version of Apex Legends on the PS5 through backwards compatibility, but if you are getting the PS5 any time soon, you may just luck out with the timing of the newest-gen release.
