"Co-op/Multiplayer is something that's still a long way off. Our long-term goals for Len's Island is to add multiplayer support, although that is still potentially year(s) away. The game is a very rewarding single player experience, multiplayer would be more of an addition rather than a core feature. As the game has been developer with a solo player in mind".

In short, the developers explained with the statement above that multiplayer is a thing, but it won't be the focus of the game, rather an addition.
It will also take time to add the feature, and it won't arrive right away. The reason is that Len's island is a single-player experience, so the focus of development is single-player first.
