The newest League of Legends Patch 11.19 introduced a lot of changes, but the most significant one is the introduction of a brand new champion Vex. Many people are wondering about how she will impact the current meta of the game.
Will Vex change the meta of League of Legends?
Vex is a very specific champion that will be a great counter to many other champions in meta. She can be used efficiently against many champions who rely on mobility and dashes/blinks/leaps etc. It is all thanks to her kit and her very powerful passive ability called "Doom."
It grants Vex a charge that can interrupt dashes of the enemy champion and fears them, which is a form of hard crowd control. It is very important because many very popular champions, especially amongst the best players in the world, rely heavily on mobility. Lee Sin, for example, has many dashes in his kit, and his biggest playmaking potential will be influenced by a champion that can stop his plans instantly.
In addition, after last year's changes to itemization in League of Legends, many of the popular items also offer dashes like Galeforce, Hextech Protobelt, Prowlers Crawl, and more. Additionally, the second part of the passive marks enemies that perform any mobility action like dash or blink near Vex. Then she can deal additional damage to the champion that she marked. Other than that, her kit is pretty simple with many skillshot abilities and a shield, nothing too fancy.

Vex's Abilities
- Passive: Like mentioned before, interrupts dashes, blinks, leaps, etc., and also marks and fears enemies. Other abilities can proc that mark and also fear enemies.
- Q: It is a simple damage-dealing projectile that travels in the direction of your choosing.
- W: It is very similar to Sion's with a shield that detonates and deals magic damage.
- E: It is also a skillshot that deals magic damage and slows enemies in a round area.
- R: Vex throws her shadow, dealing magic damage. She can recast this ability to pull herself towards the enemy champion that was hit. If the champion dies quickly after being damaged by Ves, the skill will reset, and she will be able to use it again within 12 seconds.
Final Thoughts on Vex
Considering most of Vex's abilities are skillshots, she will require some skill and practice in mastering her potential. She will pose a big threat on the middle lane and can be a pretty impactful counter to many currently in the meta picks, including champions without dashes that build items that allow them to do so.
