To cook in Tales of Arise, players will need to first unlock the ability to do in the early portion of the game. Once unlocked, players will be able to cook every time they rest at a campsite in Tales of Arise.
When players choose the rest option while inside a camp, the game will prompt players with an opportunity to select from a list of various recipes in the game. Cooking one of the recipes from the list will reward players a special buff that ranges from multiple things.

For example, some recipes will boost defense while others can boost the rate and amount items drop from enemies and boost XP.
Because of this, it's always ideal to keep these recipes in mind to gain powerful buffs to give yourself a slight edge when playing the game. You can also earn more recipes as you play the game from completing side missions or quests. But keep in mind, each recipe will need materials before you can use them in camps.
Luckily you can get plenty of materials by exploring and harvesting them from plants and even the many enemies you can encounter.
