Twelve Minutes features a 12-minute time loop that all the characters are stuck in. At the end of the 12 minutes, the time loop will naturally reset, but players can do so manually if they desire.
There are two ways the player can reset the time loop. The easiest is to simply exit the apartment. Doing so will immediately return the player to entering the apartment. Everyone else is free to leave the apartment, so the loop will not reset if your wife leaves.
Sometimes, leaving the apartment isn't possible. If you are handcuffed and lying on the floor or otherwise in a position where you can't exit, you will have to come to some form of harm. This can be from the cop attacking or killing you. You also can kill yourself with either the knife or the cop's gun.
Each time you leave the apartment or die, the character will say something upon the loop resetting. Dying, in general, will leave the player's character shaken up, but having him off himself will leave the character even more disturbed. Depending on which way you reset the loop, the character will enter the new loop still feeling the effects of dying or stumbling in.
