The Buried Treasure is a new addition to Fortnite OG, first introduced in Chapter 1, Season 8. Although it is easily completed, it allows players to go on a treasure hunt, for which they will be significantly rewarded.
Coming across a Buried Treasure Map may be one of the most challenging parts since they are a Legendary item and more complex to come by than other OG loot. Don't worry, though; we have all the details below on how to use the map and claim your loot!
Where do I find the Buried Treasure Map in Fortnite OG?
The Treasure Map can be found in chests, floor loot, and supply drops around the map. Since it is a Legendary item, it is a bit harder to come by within chests, so sometimes supply drops are a better way to track one down. You can also eliminate someone with the map and take it from them. However, you can only hold one map at a time, so don't get too greedy.
How do I use the Buried Treasure Map in Fortnite OG?
It's straightforward to use; the most challenging part is going to be able to find one. Once you get one, you must have it in your inventory to see where the treasure will be. Select it, and you will get an animated arrow pointing you toward the X you need to find. You will also see a gold glow displaying where the X is on the map. You don't need to keep holding the treasure map; you can just take it out when you need to know where to go.
Once you get to the glowing X, you will need to hack at it with your pickaxe. After a few swipes, a treasure chest will appear that can be opened. Once you open the chest, the map will be consumed and disappear from your inventory!

What loot is in the Buried Treasure Chest in Fortnite?
It's big-time loot. It's all Legendary weapons and items. It is guaranteed to be two Legendary items each time, and more likely to be one Chug Jug and a random Legendary weapon. The weapon could be anything from a Rocket Launcher to a Scar. There's also ammo for the weapons you find.
Although it may take a bit of time to track down your Buried Treasure, it can be well worth it for those Legendary items that could give you a big advantage in the game. Most of the time the Buried Treasure won't be too far off from where you found the map, so give it a shot!
