To make gunpowder in New World, you will need to get three key resources: charcoal, saltpeter, and flint. You can gather all three of these resources pretty easily in the game.
Starting with charcoal, you can get from chopping down trees, and then taking the wood, you get back to a smelter and melting it down into charcoal. However, before you can get wood, you will need to make a ax, which you can do via a workstation.
For saltpeter, you will need to gather it from monster dens and mines in the game - see our guide how to get saltpeter for the best locations for saltpeter.

Now for flint, you can find it anywhere in the game, just look on the ground, and you should find some, but the best places to look would be near rivers and along the shore.
That being said, once you have all three resources, you will be able to make gun powder with the following amounts of all three.
- Five Charcoal
- Two Flint
- One Saltpeter
Once you make gunpowder, you will be able to use it as a critical ingredient in making bullets, which are required to use the muskets in the game.
